New York Cares NY
Founded in 1987, New York Cares meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service. Each year, New York Cares runs volunteer programs at 1,000 nonprofits, public schools, and city agencies throughout the five boroughs to help meet the critical needs of people living in poverty. Our program staff works with partner organizations to identify their most pressing needs, creates projects to bridge the gaps, and recruits and deploys teams of volunteers to make a difference. Last year, New York Cares' 48,000 volunteers helped 400,000 New Yorkers in need.
