Montgomery County Humane Society MD

Mission: To create a supportive environment in which all animals are valued and appreciated for their role in human and social wellbeing while addressing overpopulation and mistreatment of animals and reducing reliance on institutional sheltering. The Montgomery County Humane Society in Rockville, Maryland, has provided animal sheltering services for Montgomery County since 1958. We work to provide humane education, give shelter, prevent pain and cruelty, and to place all animals in appropriate environments, with a goal of zero euthanasia for all adoptable animals. In 2009 we handled approximately 9,200 animals and serviced the animal-related needs of approximately 100,000 people. Many of the services provided are mandated by grant contract from the county and others are mandated by our care and concern for the animals in our care.
