Franciscan Outreach Association IL

Founded in 1963, the Franciscan Outreach Association strives to be the heart and hands of Jesus in the Spirit of the Gospel and St. Francis of Assisi. We provide for basic human needs such as food, shelter, encouragement and assistance in creating a better life for the homeless and marginalized, especially those who are underserved. Throughout our history, we have served the poor by providing them with basic services that preserve their lives and their dignity while engaging in efforts to help them improve their lives. We offer our services without regard to the religious affiliation of our guests and do not conduct any kind of religious services for them. We have a 246 bed overnight shelter, a soup kitchen, and case managers who meet with our guests one-on-one to help them access housing, jobs, medical care, mental health care and other services that will make their lives better. In 2010, we served 4,097 different persons and helped at least 98 get into housing.
