Baltimore Reads MD

Founded in 1988, Baltimore Reads teaches adults the literacy skills necessary to function in society, achieve goals, and develop individual knowledge and potential. Baltimore Reads' mission is to offer instruction to adults in basic reading, writing, mathematics and employment readiness skills, operate a Book Bank that provides free books to teachers, schools, community organizations and families, engage in community outreach, and raise awareness of the adult literacy crisis in the Baltimore region. We offer beginning literacy programs, GED preparation classes, and English as a second language program. Since 1992, we have also provided over one million books to teachers and disadvantaged families with our Baltimore Reads Book Bank.
